Tested on 65 songs: none of the 40 human songs flagged as AI, 23 of 25 AI songs caught. How we tested
Wondering "is this song AI?" Paste a link from Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube or Deezer, type the song and artist, or upload an audio file. The checker listens for the fingerprint that AI music generators such as Suno and Udio leave in the audio, adds Deezer's AI label when there is one, and tells you how sure it is and why.
How this AI song checker works
AI music generators build a song as a compressed code and then turn it into sound with a neural audio decoder. That last step leaves a trace: a row of evenly spaced peaks in the spectrum between 1 and 8 kHz, a bit like the grid of a cheap screen. Researchers at Deezer described it in 2025, and you can't hear it, but a simple model can measure it.
- Find the song. We look up the official 30-second preview on Apple Music, or on Deezer if Apple doesn't have it. Spotify and YouTube links are matched by title and artist.
- Measure the fingerprint. Your browser averages the spectrum of the preview, removes the melody's shape and keeps only the peaks, then a small open-source model (fakeprint, MIT licence) scores them from 0 to 1.
- Add Deezer's label. Deezer tags albums its own detector found to be AI-generated. When the song is on Deezer, we show that label too.
Uploaded files go through the same steps, but on the whole file (up to 5 minutes) and without leaving your device. The step-by-step guide covers the clues you can check yourself.
What the AI song detector tells you
Every check ends in one of three answers:
- Likely AI-generated: the fingerprint score is 0.8 or higher, or Deezer labels the album as AI.
- Likely human-made: the score is 0.2 or lower and there is no Deezer label. It means we found no trace of the generators we know, which is not the same as proof.
- Can't tell: the score is in between, or there wasn't enough audio. None of our 65 test songs landed here, so treat it as a real "we don't know".
You also get the AI probability, the reasons, and the limits of the check. You can share the result as a link, which reruns the check for whoever opens it, or as an image, and you can tell us if it's wrong.

Above is a real result from this checker, on a song by The Velvet Sundown, a band whose own bio describes it as a synthetic music project made with the support of AI.
How accurate is the AI song checker?
We tested it on 65 songs before launch: 25 songs from AI artists named in the press, such as The Velvet Sundown, Xania Monet and Breaking Rust, and 40 human songs, chosen to be hard. They include Cher's "Believe" and T-Pain for heavy Auto-Tune, Daft Punk, Bon Iver, and country, soul and gospel songs in the same styles as the AI ones.
- None of the 40 human songs was flagged as AI. Every one scored below 0.001.
- 23 of the 25 AI songs were caught, all with scores of 0.87 or higher. With Deezer's label added, 24 of 25.
- The two misses were a song with an AI voice over human production, and one song we can't explain.
A test of 40 human songs can't rule out a false alarm rate of a few percent, so this is a good sign, not a guarantee. The accuracy report lists every song and score.
Is this song AI? What a checker cannot tell you
Be careful with three cases.
- New generators. The fingerprint depends on how a generator's decoder is built. It covers Suno up to v5 and Udio up to v1.5, which made most of the AI songs on streaming services so far. Suno v6, released in September 2026, is not tested yet, and other tools, such as ElevenLabs Music, Google Lyria or Mureka, can slip through until we retest.
- Part-AI songs. A human-produced track with an AI voice, or AI stems mixed into a real recording, usually passes as human.
- Short or degraded audio. We need at least 10 seconds. Re-encoding a preview never made a human song look AI in our test, but it hid a few AI songs, and a phone recording of a speaker is worse.
So a "Likely human-made" answer means no known AI fingerprint, not a certificate. And please don't use a "Likely AI-generated" answer alone to accuse an artist: check their credits, interviews and live shows, and see the list of AI artists reported so far.
Who uses an AI music detector
- Listeners who suspect the band in their Discover Weekly doesn't exist, or want to know before they share a song.
- Playlist curators and radio who don't want AI filler in their lists.
- Artists, producers and labels who want to check their own track before release, or show a distributor it is human-made. The guide for artists explains what to do if your music is flagged.
- Journalists and researchers looking into AI artists on streaming services.
Your songs stay on your device
The analysis runs in your browser. Files you upload are never sent to us, and we don't record their names. For links and song names, your browser downloads the official preview from Apple or Deezer directly. We keep a record of each check (the song, the score and the verdict) to measure how the checker performs, as the privacy policy explains.

Frequently asked questions
Is this AI song checker free?
Yes. You get 3 free checks a day without signing up, for links and for your own files. The three samples and shared song links don't use one. Paid packs for heavier use are coming soon.
Can it tell if a song on Spotify is AI?
Yes. Paste the Spotify song link. Spotify doesn't share audio with other sites, so we match the title and artist on Apple Music or Deezer and check the official preview there. If the match looks wrong, pick the right version from the list.
Does Auto-Tune make a song look AI-generated?
Not in our test. Cher's "Believe", T-Pain and Daft Punk all scored below 0.001. The checker looks for the decoder fingerprint of AI generators, not for processed vocals.
Which AI music generators can it detect?
Suno (up to v5) and Udio (up to v1.5), the tools behind most AI songs so far. Others may not leave the same fingerprint, which is why every result shows its limits.
Do you keep the files I upload?
No. Uploaded files are analysed in your browser and never leave your device. We keep a record of the check, such as the score, the verdict and the file's type and size, but never the audio or the file name. The privacy policy lists everything.
